Job descriptionWork in the Renal Progressive Care Unit of a tertiary care hospital Patient population includes renal transplant, hemodialysis, diabetes encephalopathy, and acute renal rejection Staff-to-patient ratio typically 1 : 5, may flex to 1 : 6, all transplant patients are 2 : 1 for 48 hours Involves use of PD caths, drains, thymo administration, IV insulin protocols, and cardiac monitoring EMR system is Epic, with training modules to be completed pre-start Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), including weekend and holiday shifts as needed Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed Provide specialized nursing care to patients with complex renal and cardiac needs Required to manage diabetic, metabolic, and acute rejection cases, as well as thymo titration Must comply with navy scrub color policy Pre-start Epic training and other modules must be completed prior to orientation Infusion pump and glucometer training required prior to start Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed RNs may be assigned charge nurse duties and are expected to cover holiday shifts as needed Free parking is available onsite Drug screening required; a positive or diluted result not cleared by MRO will require a 6 month wait before re-applying No travel partners accepted First-time travelers are accepted Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum of 2 years recent PCU / renal specialty experience, with at least 1 year within the last 12 months and no employment gaps over 90 days Skills required : renal transplant care, cardiac telemetry monitoring, emergency response, pre / post hemodialysis management, central and peripheral line care, starting IVs, IV therapy, wound care Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response situations Two recent professional references required : one from a supervisor-level or above, and another from a charge RN, both from within the past year Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
