How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region :
The Metro Transit Manager, Asset Planning and Reporting position is the overall leader for the asset planning work unit within the Asset Management department. This position will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement division-wide asset management planning efforts that enable lifecycle asset management and support FTA compliance.
They will work across divisions to support Council-wide asset management policies and practices. This position will manage the Program Manager, Transit Asset Management and 2 planners to accomplish goals and objectives efficiently and effectively. This position supports Metropolitan Council Asset Management objectives through collaboration and facilitation with a broad spectrum of internal stakeholders.
What you would do in this job
1. Effectively manage direct report staff, with overall responsibility for the day-to-day execution of Asset Management's asset planning and reporting work program.
2. Lead the business activities of the Asset Management asset planning unit, providing management and oversight to individual contributors performing the following work activities.
3. Provide strategic and tactical leadership and advice on asset planning within Metro Transit as part of MT Asset Management leadership team.
4. Procurement, Vendor Management & Governance : Conduct procurements for professional services and govern process according to business needs; maintain constructive working relationships with vendors.
5. Asset Management leadership : Contribute to establishing and achieving department-wide objectives.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of education and progressively responsible experience in capital planning, asset planning, public policy, or a related field-including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience :

What your work environment will be : Most of the work time is performed in a standard office setting. Travel to various locations in the seven county metropolitan areas will be required with occasional out-of-state travel.
