Job Summary :
The GIS Developer is a key member of the GIS team responsible for designing building enhancing and maintaining high-impact GIS web and desktop applications. This role involves collaboration with the Application Development group and cross-functional teams to support internal operations and public access to water resource data. The position is hybrid requiring a minimum of two days per week on-site.
Location : Phoenix Arizona United States
Responsibilities :
- Builds production web applications by gathering requirements designing and deploying applications following industry best practices and development standards.
- Builds custom desktop GIS tools automates GIS workflows and writes database queries.
- Maintains production web applications by resolving service requests updating code and ensuring compatibility.
- Maintains custom desktop GIS tools GIS workflows and database queries.
- Communicates with team members and customers gives technical presentations and shares programming techniques.
- Authors and maintains well-formatted code code comments standard work help documents diagrams and other technical documentation.
Required Skills & Certifications :
Knowledge of web development in an Esri environment (ArcGIS Developer resources ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript ArcGIS REST services Esri Jimu library ArcGIS Experience Builder Developer Edition).Python programming and ArcPy scripting.ArcGIS Pro knowledge : basic geospatial analysis basic editing and basic cartographic design.Version control using Git.Software development best practices (Agile testing environments source control DevOps technical documentation).Developing connections to database management systems.Basic geospatial analysis and cartographic design.Experience with database management systems (Oracle or SQL Server) and writing intermediate SQL queries.Skills in developing web applications using HTML CSS JavaScript JSX TypeScript React SQL queries browser developer tools and responsive application design.API Development.Debugging code troubleshooting analyzing and resolving technical issues with web applications.Verbal and written communication skills.Problem solving and process improvement skills.Customer service skills.Bachelors DegreePreferred Skills & Certifications :
Knowledge of Docker or other containerization technologies.Special Considerations :
