PCU Registered Nurse Job Details Location : Washington, DC 20007 (ideal for nurses seeking DC healthcare jobs) Facility Type : Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital Unit : S52 Med Surg IMC (Intermediate Care Unit / Stepdown) Contract Type : Travel Nursing Assignment Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 16 / 2026) Shift : Nights, 3x12-Hour Shifts (18 : 30 - 07 : 00) Weekly Hours : 36 Estimated Weekly Pay : $1610 - $1730 per week Patient Population : Adults & Geriatrics Unit Size : 28 beds, 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratio Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend rotation Float Requirement : Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed Charting System : Cerner EMR COVID-19 : Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active DC Registered Nurse license (required prior to start) Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, IMC, or Stepdown nursing experience At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment (travel RN experience required) BLS certification (required) ACLS and BSN preferred Proficiency with Cerner charting system Two supervisor references required Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity Weekend rotation required PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients, including those with thoracic surgery, GI bleeds, pneumonia, liver failure, and CHF exacerbations Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac dysrhythmias Initiate and maintain IVs, manage cardiac drips (no titration), and administer medications via Pyxis Provide care for patients with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy, chest tubes, and central / peripheral lines Implement IV insulin and heparin protocols as needed Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams Float to other nursing units as required and participate in weekend rotations Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner EMR Complete orientation and all required modules prior to assignment start Ready to take the next step in your nursing career?
