SUMMARY
Karman Space & Defense is currently seeking a talented and experienced CMM Programmer to join our Quality Assurance team. In this role you will program and operate Brown & Sharpe and Zeiss CMMs using PC DMIS or Calypso to inspect high-precision machined parts. You will ensure components meet the stringent dimensional and documentation standards required by AS9100D and ISO 9001 : 2015.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for high precision production inspection using applicable metrology software such as PC-DMIS or Calypso.Utilize CMM programs from customer technical drawings and models to verify machining results.Write / edit / assesses programs utilized in manufacturing using CMM programming platforms such as Calypso, PC-DMIS, etc.Investigate CMM equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions such as recalibration, sensor repair, software conflicts, fixture improvements, etc.Lead troubleshooting efforts for CMM operation.Identify and implement opportunities for measurement process improvements.Conducts inspections requirements at First Article, In-Process, Incoming & Final Inspection.Documents inspection results by completing reports & logs. Inputs data into quality database.Utilize various inspection tools to verify part compliance to technical drawings.Interpret technical drawings to develop inspection approaches that ensure part complianceCollaborate with machinist team members to verify first article and production compliance to technical drawings.Confer with engineers, machinists, and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve issues, or provide technical information.Assists in development of inspection fixtures to ensure minimum measurement error during inspectionVisually inspect parts for workmanshipAbility to use a variety of Measuring and Test equipment such as Bore gages, Profilometers, Height gages, Micrometers and Optical Comparators.Maintains equipment and an organized clean area by performing tasks such as daily PMs on inspection equipment and ensuring work a kept clean and organized.Understanding of common industry specifications (material, coating / plating, NDT, etc.)Support all company initiatives as identified by management and in support of the Quality Management Systems (QMS).Assist in internal, customer, and third-party audits, as required.Complies with industry regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school degree or equivalent required. Some secondary education preferred.Must have a minimum of 5 years of dimensional inspection experience in an aerospace / defense, avionics, medical, or similar industry.Experience evaluating and interpreting engineering drawings.PC proficient with a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office applications.Understanding of QA sampling plans including visual and dimensional examinations and other ancillary test methods strongly preferred.Pre-employment drug test is required.Background check is required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Proficient in set-up and operation of inspection equipment.Proficiency in writing and / or editing CMM programs (Calypso & PC-DMIS preferred)Advanced proficiency in reading / interpreting engineering drawings and the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5Strong math skills, trigonometry.Knowledge of standard mechanical inspection methods, tools, and tolerances used to determine product acceptance.Knowledge of regulations associated with the aerospace and defense industry preferred.Working knowledge of Quality Systems (AS9100D / ISO9001) within a regulated environment preferred.Proficient with ERP systems (Global Shop / Epicor)ITAR REQUIREMENTS :
