Remittance Representatives support several front-line work types within the Claim Submission and Financial Processing Services organization. The representative is primarily responsible for executing various transactional responsibilities (both manual and equipment facing) in accordance with established policies and standard operating procedures while meeting department performance standards. The bulk of the representative’s responsibility involves processing or preparing incoming healthcare payments in preparation for depositing or the processing of outbound paper claim submissions to send on behalf of clients. All Representatives are expected to begin assignments within our Document Handling area, where we support the extraction, sortation and batch creation of several thousand client payments, EOBs and correspondence per day. Although DH is the starting point for most, there are times in which business needs necessitate assignment changes. All reps are expected to conduct their work in a timely, efficient, accurate & safe manner. Reps can also expect to participate in various support roles as needed to ensure peers are supported and work is transported / distributed within work areas as appropriate. This role is a Monday through Friday IN OFFICE role. Shifts are 7am-3 : 30pm with some 6am starts and weekend OT as business needs. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) : Standardized manual extraction, sortation and batch creation of bulk client payment information Run equipment to sort, slice, extract, and scan materials for processing Manually apply signatures to documents as directed / authorized on behalf of clients Acting in a support role capacity (transporting / delivering work, assisting with New Hire onboarding) Sitting / standing or walking 8-10 hrs. / day with ability to occasionally lift 35-50lbs Education & Experience Required : High School Diploma or GED equivalent Strong work-ethic including attendance, punctuality & productivity Transactional work experience a plus (e.g. queue based, numbers focused, assembly line, etc.) Experience in a professional environment; demonstrating respect, professionalism, integrity & maturity Knowledge & Skills : Strong Interpersonal and relationship building skills to support a respectful & inclusive workplace and team environment; consistently demonstrating professionalism, respect, integrity, and maturity Strong bias for action with willingness / ability to start and maintain standardized work in a timely, productive manner without losing focus Ability to communicate opportunities to address / remove obstacles, communicate suggested direction / delegation opportunities (with Managers / Support staff) and actively seek to clarify / understand desired outcomes of the role Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match shifting demands of different / changing situations; demonstrating flexibility, poise and a sense of humor in a fast-paced environment Actively learn through experimentation, successes and failures. Open to ask questions and seek / receive feedback to support learning Basic ability to navigate MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Effective written / verbal communication skills; the ability to write in cursive is preferred but not required Flexibility & dependability to cover a six-day operating footprint including periodic Saturday availability Mechanical and / or Systems aptitude desired but not required About athenahealth Our vision : In an industry that becomes more complex by the day, we stand for simplicity.
