Responsibilities
- Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by LVJUSD and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
- Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements and interprets them for staff.
- Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels; is aware of all meetings requiring attendance.
- Directs the administration and supervision of the athletic program to ensure programs run smoothly and safely.
Staff Responsibilities
Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff; designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by promoting attendance at local clinics.Delegates duties, supervises implementation and, at season0end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants.
Maintains discipline, handles grievances, and works to increase morale and cooperation.Performs other duties as assigned by the athletic director / principal.Administrative Duties
Assists the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special sport events.Assists in preparations to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times; coordinates with maintenance and school staff.Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.Provides safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites; advises the athletic director on policy or procedural changes.Student Responsibilities
Serves as a mentor to athletes to promote character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.Monitors student athletes grades and conduct; provides guidance and safeguards for participants during practices, games, and travel.Informs athletes of training rules and sport-specific regulations; initiates programs for injuries, medical attention and emergencies; completes injury paperwork within 24 hours.Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians; determines discipline and communicates with parents regarding eligibility.Assists athletes in college or post-secondary educational planning.Finance And Equipment
Participates in budgeting with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the next season; advises on equipment guidelines and remains within budget.Is accountable for all equipment; collects costs for lost or unreplaced items; arranges issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment with annual inventory records.Marks and identifies equipment; monitors equipment rooms and coaches offices; restricts access as needed; maintains facility cleanliness and safety of equipment.Secures all doors, lights, and locks when leaving the building and instills respect for equipment and school property.Public Relations
Organizes preseason meetings for parents, coaches and players; promotes the sport within the school and externally; maintains relations with media, booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.Coordinates information releases to local media and oversees the quality and accuracy of communications.Seniority level
