We’re entering a major growth phase and are seeking an experienced Master Plumber to help lead our field operations, oversee quality and compliance, and support the training and licensing needs of our plumbing crews and HVAC team.
Position Summary
The Master Plumber will serve as the company’s lead authority for plumbing installation standards, code compliance, and inspection readiness. This individual will play a pivotal role in overseeing field operations, ensuring installation quality, mentoring apprentices and journeymen, and signing off on permitted projects under their license. The role requires both technical excellence and leadership ability to maintain Whitegate’s reputation as a leading Plumbing and HVAC contractor known for craftsmanship and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee plumbing installations on large-scale multi-family and commercial new construction projects.
Ensure full compliance with state and local plumbing codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
Conduct quality inspections, approve final installations, and coordinate with inspectors and GCs.
Serve as the Responsible Master Plumber (RMP) on record for licensed operations where applicable.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to field plumbers, apprentices, and foremen.
Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and as-builts for plumbing systems.
Troubleshoot complex system or design issues in collaboration with project managers and estimators.
Coordinate with other trades (electrical, GC, HVAC, etc.) to maintain schedule integrity.
Assist in developing and maintaining standardized installation practices and company safety policies.
Participate in pre-construction planning and field layout to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Support recruiting and training initiatives to build a strong, certified plumbing and HVAC workforce.
Qualifications
Valid Master Plumber License (Pennsylvania required; NJ, MD, DE preferred).
Minimum 10 years of plumbing experience, with at least 5 years in large-scale new construction.
Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate multiple job sites concurrently.
Strong understanding of blueprints, schematics, submittals, and material take-offs.
Familiarity with commercial mechanical drawings, RFI processes, and project management workflows.
OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
Ability to train and supervise apprentices under a registered program.
Strong working relationship with local inspectors and code authorities.
