Job description

Safety Manager

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring employee adherence to company safety policies and procedures. This position supports projects throughout designated geographical locations.

Our companys Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division offers a comprehensive range of electrical services including transmission, distribution, substation and clean energy construction. We are experienced in delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet the growing demands of the power and utility industry.

Essential Functions

  • Manage on-going safety program
  • Work with Operations to ensure proper safety staffing
  • Verify fieldwork compliance with federal, state and local regulations, company policy, and industry best practices
  • Audit and provide meaningful feedback, leadership, and guidance to direct reports
  • Provide mentorship and growth opportunities for safety specialists
  • Coordinate cross-training and conduct training as necessary
  • Assist management with methods to improve safety practices and procedures
  • Conduct and report on advance notice and no-notice inspections, surveys, and evaluations
  • Receive, review, and participate with the development of accident briefs, safety-related publications, bulletins, and reports
  • Provide technical and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behavior and environmental factors
  • Provide progress reports on safety activities, safety reports, and safety studies
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Companys Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable

About You

Qualifications

  • Experience in incident management and investigations
  • Experience with OSHA record keeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writing
  • Experience in job hazard & safety analysis within the transmission and distribution industry
  • Experience in the field of transmission and distribution line construction
  • Management experience within a safety role
  • Safety or related technical undergraduate degree (such as CSP or other)
  • Safety related credentials (e.g., OSHA 501, OTI certifications, CUSP, CHST, etc.)
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience with Risk Management
  • Effective communicator
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Positive attitude
  • Valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of utility and construction safety programs
  • OSHA / DOT related experience
  • OSHA 10, 30, and 500 (Train the Trainer) Certified
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • Knowledge of OSP (OSHA Strategic Partnership)
  • Experience with OSHA VPP is a plus

  • Salary commensurate with experience, paid weekly. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
