Overview

Manager Truck Shop Maintenance at Fleet Services by Cox Automotive.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 25+ technicians, provide leadership and guidance to deliver company results.
  • Meet one-on-one with direct reports to provide coaching and mentoring and help them find solutions.
  • Retrieve, review and monitor metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and / or training or safety records as needed to analyze team productivity and implement improvements to maintenance and repair efficiency.
  • Travel to customer locations frequently.
  • Participate in and / or lead regular meetings with market team members across dispatch, parts, billing, and other functions.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with administrative and DOT policies, safety rules, and environmental / government regulations; ensure work is performed to organizational standards.
  • Perform onboarding activities for technicians and ensure access to resources, tools, and equipment for safe and effective work.
  • Conduct safety audits and Quality Control Inspections (QCIs) and Safety Audits.
  • Assist in developing and adhering to a monthly budget.
  • Coordinate with market team to set goals and strategies for productivity improvements.
  • Collaborate with dispatch and sales to maintain full schedules for technicians.
  • Delegate work to technicians as unscheduled repair calls arise and coordinate with internal teams accordingly.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and reinforce the company safety culture.
  • Implement safety processes and monitor adherence.
  • Provide guidance on technical, systems-, or process-related topics and encourage others to do the same.
  • Collaborate with customers to meet vehicle maintenance requirements and act as liaison between CAMFS technicians and customers.
  • Facilitate communication across functions to resolve issues; provide standard and emergency operating procedures for maintenance work.
  • Monitor inventory levels of equipment, parts, or tools across technicians.
  • Interview, select, and train new technicians.
  • Work with CAMFS organizations to resolve items related to the technician role (HR, Parts / Procurement, Fleet Management, IT, etc.).
  • Operate a company-issued vehicle to travel to technicians and customer locations.
  • May perform some technician duties as needed to model best practices.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' related experience; or master's degree with 4 years' experience; Ph.D. with 1 year; or 10 years' related experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in management or a lead role.
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Coaching, mentoring, teaching, disciplining, and handling difficult conversations with mobile technicians.
  • Knowledge of the mobile work environment and maintenance practices and processes for mobile maintenance.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts to solve technician-related issues.
  • Ability to act with a high sense of urgency.
