American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring Level 1 trauma experience, EVD skills, and strong neuro assessment abilities.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 32-bed Neuro ICU in an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospitalPatient population includes critical care neuro cases involving cranial surgeries, brain tumor removals, ablations, brain biopsies, complex spine surgeries, and scoliosis repairNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 in ICU and 4 : 1 if floated to tele unitsUtilizes Cerner EMR and Phillips monitors; ventilator management required12-hour day shifts (7a–7p) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and 2 of 4 major holidaysFloating required to all ICU floors and Tele units; first to float as neededCharge nurse support available with no patient assignmentWill float to Medical-Surgical Telemetry units as needed with adjusted patient ratiosDay 1 includes a pass / fail exam on sterile technique with a study guide providedSIMs Lab skills verification required on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; failure may result in terminationCharge nurse available for clinical supportSteel grey scrubs required for Neuro ICU assignmentsNo first-time travelers will be considered for this positionMen must be clean-shaven for fit testing and all staff must have natural hair color and no facial piercingsHoliday coverage is rotated with core staff\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience in a hospital with at least 450 bedsLevel 1 trauma experience mandatoryPrior EVD and ICP monitoring experience requiredAt least 3-6 months prior travel nursing experience requiredStrong neuro assessment skills requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer and pass sterile technique skills lab on Foley insertion and central line dressing changes during orientationCandidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past yearMust live at least 50 miles from facility (driver’s license required as verification)2 professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor from the past 3 years\n Benefits\n
