POSITION SUMMARY : Perform the duties in Urgent Care required to provide support for providers in all aspects of patient care under the supervision of a physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner or licensed nurse which will meet the specific needs of the patient(s) presenting for care.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Education : High School diploma or equivalent, Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program required.
Experience : A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an emergency department, urgent care or other clinical setting.
Skills and Abilities : which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position :
- Ability to perform accurate blood drawing techniques.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere with HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing schedules.

- Ability to be a quick thinker and relate to all levels of staff and patients.
- Team-oriented, energetic with strong customer service skills.
- Cultural sensitivity required.

- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and / or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience required.

Certificate from Medical Assistant Training program.CPR Certification.Essential Functions
Performs patient intake (i.e. blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, respirations, weights and measurements) on patients for medical examination.Accurately document chief complaints, vital signs, weight, brief history, past history, family and social history, current mediations, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate.Performs tests (i.e. blood glucose test, urine dipstick, pulse oximetry, vision tests, hearing screens and EKGs).Notifies Provider and / or Clinic Nurse Coordinator of abnormal vital signs, blood glucose, hearing and vision abnormalities and / or EKG results.Complete tasks as assigned with licensed oversight, i.e. eye lavages, ear irrigation, ace wraps, suture or staple removal from superficial incisions or lacerations, etc.Gives medications / immunizations as ordered per route (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sub-dermal).Prepares, maintains exam rooms assuring that they are cleaned and stocked; performs sterilization of instruments.Adhere to infection control / safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies.Responsible for general office procedures (i.e. venipunctures, dressing changes and nebulizer treatments).Operate diagnostic equipment but cannot interpret tests.Perform CPR and render first aid in an emergency.Ensure that equipment is in proper working order and report any malfunction to the Director of Health Center Operations or Physician on duty.Perform other duties as assignedPosition may require travel to other area sites due to staffing needsNOTE : Affinia Healthcare is a Covid-19 Vaccine Mandated Employer.
