Description Join our dedicated Intensive Care Unit team, consisting of a state-of-the-art 10-bed facility that specializes in caring for critically ill adults and the elderly. We perform essential procedures including intubations, mechanical ventilator management, arterial line insertions, and more. Our team handles an average daily census of 8 and monitors up to 24 telemetry units. Common diagnoses include Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, and COPD, among others. Surgical conditions we frequently manage include appendectomies, laparotomies, and hysterectomies. Our ICU team at Spohn Kleberg is recognized for professionalism, teamwork, and commitment. Summary : As a competent Nurse in a critical care setting, you will practice independently, demonstrating a thorough understanding of complex clinical situations. You will provide routine and complex care, maintain long-term goals, and manage nursing contingencies effectively. You will also delegate tasks to optimize patient care. Responsibilities : Meet the OneCHRISTUS Competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Provide nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and families, identifying issues and resources. Job Requirements : Education / Skills : Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred. Experience : One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications : BLS certification is required. RN License in the state of employment or compact license. Position Requirements : All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will receive preceptorship from trained staff and will complete competency validations specific to our Critical Care Department. Successful completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory. Important Certifications : Current ACLS certification is required. Credential Grace Periods : Any candidate with at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years is considered an Experienced Associate. Those without a year of full-time acute care experience in the same service line in the last three years will be categorized as New Associates.
