Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Shop Service Technician position available at our Edinburg, Texas location. This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and / or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. The incumbent can work independently or as a team member to provide mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals. We are located at 10701 US-281, Edinburg, TX 78542. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday 7 am to 4 pm. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available for those qualified and experienced with Heavy Construction Machinery.

Essential Functions :

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
• Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
• Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
• Mentors and helps train other technicians
• Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
• Performs other duties as assigned
