CNC Machinist (Contract-to-Hire)
Location : St. Charles, IL
Pay : $27–$30 / hour | Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a growing production team in St. Charles, IL. This is a contract-to-hire position offering long-term growth opportunities, cross-training, and the chance to advance into leadership roles.
You’ll be part of a collaborative and highly skilled shop environment, working alongside a mix of seasoned experts and newer machinists. The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years of CNC machining experience with steel and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills (HAAS, Doosan, Samson).
Read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and GD&T to select proper tooling, bar stock, and machining programs.
Perform machine setup, first runs, and adjustments to ensure quality output.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Conduct machine calibration, tool changes, and basic maintenance.
Collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and meet production goals.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Must Have :
3+ years of CNC machining experience (steel required).
Proficiency with setup and operation of lathes and / or mills (both preferred).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and BOMs.
Hands-on experience selecting materials, setting cutting tools, and running test pieces.
Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills.
Nice to Have :
Experience making program edits or modifications (Mastercam or on-machine).
Direct experience with HAAS, Doosan, and Samson machines.
Leadership potential and interest in long-term growth.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours : 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM (Mon–Fri)
Overtime : Typically 10-hour shifts during the week plus some Saturday hours.
Pay : $27–$30 / hour (based on experience)
Type : Contract-to-Hire (with strong potential for permanent placement and internal promotion)
