STATUS : FT Employee (W2)

COMPENS ATION : $62,000-68,000 / yr, based on experience + performance bonus

LOCATION : Remote, 9AM -6PM ET, 40 hrs / wk ; open to US residents; ability to travel 3-5 times per year

ABOUT THE INVESTMENT SERVICES ASSOCIATE POSITION

At Melanin Money, we are on a mission to close the Wealth Gap for people of color by $100 billion- helping first-generation wealth builders, entrepreneurs, and high earners create, grow, and preserve wealth. We are excited to be expanding our impact with the rollout of our in-house asset management services to complement our financial planning services. This new capability will allow clients to trust us not only with their financial strategy, but also with the direct management of their investment portfolios.

We are searching for a motivated, growth-oriented professional to join our team as an Investment Services Associate. In this role, you will play a key part in the launch of our in-house asset management services, starting with client data management, onboarding, and operational workflows. As the operational foundation is built, your role will transition to client-facing support-handling portfolio check-ins, reporting walkthroughs, and day-to-day account support. This is a unique opportunity to build a career at the intersection of financial planning, investments, and client success. This is a remote, full-time employee role (40 hours, 9AM-6PM ET) open to US residents. Candidates must be available to travel 3-5 times per year, and must have 1-3 years of experience in client service, financial operations, or related roles (financial services preferred but not required). SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licensing is required.

  • You have a strong knowledge of mutual funds and ETFs (required), and some knowledge of asset transfers (not required, but a plus).
  • You are proficient with CRMs (Hubspot experience is a plus).
  • You bring 1–3 years of experience in client service, financial operations, or a related role (required); financial services experience is not required, but a plus.
  • You hold SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses (required).
  • You are genuinely excited to join a mission-driven firm working to close the wealth gap for people of color and help clients build generational wealth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Phase 1 – Operations & Support (First 6 Months)

  • Maintain and update client and prospect data in HubSpot CRM and RightCapital, ensuring accuracy and consistency across platforms.
  • Aggregate, organize, and tag held-away asset data to support targeted client outreach.
  • Support client onboarding workflows, including intake forms, account setup, and custodial transfer paperwork.
  • Prepare summary reports and dashboards for advisors in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Coordinate outreach to clients invited into the beta program, providing timely updates and support.
  • Phase 2 – Client-Facing Transition (6–12 Months)

  • Join onboarding and service meetings with clients, supporting advisors and addressing client questions.
  • Conduct proactive follow-up calls (30-day and 60-day check-ins) to ensure smooth onboarding and transfer progress.
  • Walk clients through onboarding kits and portfolio basics in clear, jargon-free language.
  • Manage service-related issues (e.g., signatures, custodial requirements), escalating complex cases to advisors as needed.
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for onboarding updates and general account support.
  • Phase 3 – Ongoing Client Service (12–18+ Months)

  • Lead quarterly portfolio service check-ins and collaborate with advisors to prepare annual review meetings.
  • Present portfolio reports to clients, highlighting performance, allocations, and next steps in clear, approachable terms.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day portfolio service requests, including deposits and withdrawals.
  • Partner with advisors to ensure clients receive proactive, seamless service.
  • Support investment-management-only clients by delivering baseline conversations about performance, allocation, and service needs.
