Senior Civil Engineer

Andrews & Cole is excited to share an opportunity for two Senior Civil Engineering roles in San Dimas, CA, who will report to the Engineering Design Manager. These two Civil Engineers with PE's, will lead a dynamic design team in preparing plans and specifications for drinking water capital improvement projects. In addition, the Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for meeting goals and objectives set by the Engineering Design Manager, including adhering to schedules and budgets for assigned design projects.

The job functions for this position are diverse and challenging. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead a team to manage multiple potable water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design projects, including the preparation of site plans with grading plans to balance earthwork, stormwater capture and conveyance design, and ensuring vehicular access to pumps, wells, treatment systems, and conveyance systems.

In addition, the Senior Civil Engineer will plan, direct, assign, review, and evaluate the work of all assigned staff, preparing performance evaluations and career development profiles as necessary as well as coordinate internal and external resources, including consultants, to ensure the timely completion of design projects while working closely with other asset management staff and internal stakeholders, such as operations, customer service, and water quality staff.

A key responsibility of this position is ensuring compliance with the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water Separation of Water Mains and Non-Potable Pipelines and overseeing DDW Waivers for non-compliant crossings. The Senior Civil Engineer will prioritize design projects within their area of responsibility, monitor and report on project schedules and budgets, and implement corrective actions when needed.

Quality control and quality assurance are essential aspects of this role. The Senior Civil Engineer will perform quality control on design projects by other engineers and consultants and implement a quality assurance program for the internal design team. They will engage and manage consultants, review invoices, and opine on submittals and field changes during the construction phase.

The Senior Civil Engineer will also represent or assist in representing the company in public settings concerning projects. They will perform engineering design services associated with the development of Capital Improvement Programs and related design documents, such as preliminary design reports, project cost estimates, cost / benefit analysis, value engineering reviews, and evaluations and reports concerning system hydraulics, water supply, distribution, storage, treatment, and water quality projects. Additionally, they will supervise design services associated with new business projects.

To qualify for this position, candidates must hold :

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.

Must be registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
