My client is seeking a skilled and analytical Refinery Economist to join their team, responsible for driving economic analysis and optimization strategies within the refinery. This role requires expertise in utilizing the Linear Program (LP) Model to evaluate and communicate economic scenarios, supporting the development of the monthly Refinery Operating Plan and other strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead margin enhancement initiatives through comprehensive economic analyses, LP studies, and project justifications.
  • Develop annual oil flow and margin projections to inform the business plan.
  • Create business strategies that align with environmental regulations, providing project teams with economically viable options.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of product economics, focusing on cargo and marginal product economics, octane, and RVP value.
  • Collaborate with the Supply and Trading organization to optimize products monthly, based on economic insights.
  • Work with the Process Controls group to implement advanced controllers that integrate online optimizer economics in response to market changes.
  • Partner with Operations Support Engineers and other teams to strategize long-term optimizations and constraint removal, offering economic guidance on non-capital margin projects.
  • Monitor product pricing, key market indicators, and operational constraints, engaging with trading teams to validate price and volume forecasts through market analysis.
  • Collaborate with peers across locations and commercial teams to formulate and refine site business strategies.
  • Serve as the site lead for LP and APS projects, developing and executing strategies to maintain and enhance these tools.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in refining or a related industry.
  • Proven experience as a refinery process engineer.
  • Ability to participate in the refinery on-call duty rotation for off-hours support, particularly during abnormal operations related to gasoline blending.
