Qualifications

About the Role : Family Advocate : AmeriCorps HIPPY Program

The Family Connects Team and the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Curriculum. As a Family Advocate, you will provide individualized in-person / virtual home visits with parents or adult caregivers utilizing the HIPPY Curriculum. This position allows you to screen and assess progress for both children and adults. The HIPPY mentor completes data entry and reporting for each family and child enrolled.

Duties Performed :

  • Provide a supporting environment to help clients identify their own goals toward recovery and / or resiliency.
  • Teach skills to work toward the client's self-identified goals (social, educational, housing, benefits, illness management, etc.).
  • Secures resources and services for clients with mild to severe mental illness, disorders, and disabilities.
  • Coordinates with internal and external supportive resources to deliver the services needed to clients.
  • Collaborate with team members regarding services in response to the treatment plan.

    • Responsibilities :

  • Ability to read and speak enough English for training and role plays.
  • Tuesdays are required training days from 8 : 30 am - 1 : 30 pm.
  • Participate in all assigned HIPPY family education and learning events / groups.
  • Complete all the required components of the HIPPY curriculum, including role-plays, practice, and mentoring with enrolled parents.
  • Complete pre-assessments and post-assessments with enrolled children.
  • Maintaining family records and entering data within the required timelines.
  • Leadership qualities demonstrated in other volunteer work experiences. Must be comfortable with computers, demonstrating basic use, including emails, notes, and data entry.
  • Must have the ability to use technology for virtual visits.

    • Education / Credentials :

  • A High School Diploma equivalent is required.
  • Experience with parents and family in the home, community, and other settings.
  • Must be able to obtain certification as required by evidence-based programs.
  • A Valid Driver's License with a driving record that meets agency insurability requirements is required.

    • Additional Eligibility Requirements :

  • Annual Flu Vaccinations
  • Annual TB Testing
