Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join their growing CPA firm in Baltimore. Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Compliance
Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates
Handle Form 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990, and related schedulesEnsure accurate and timely completion of returns in compliance with current tax laws and regulationsResearch complex tax issues using professional tax research tools (RIA, CCH, BNA)Respond to IRS and state tax notices and represent clients during examinationsClient Service & CommunicationServe as primary contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships
Conduct client meetings to discuss tax planning strategies and compliance mattersProvide proactive tax planning advice to minimize clients' tax liabilitiesCommunicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients with varying levels of financial sophisticationTeam Leadership & DevelopmentReview work prepared by staff and senior associates, providing constructive feedback
Mentor junior team members and assist in their professional developmentCollaborate with partners and managers on client strategy and business development initiativesParticipate in training programs and knowledge-sharing sessionsPractice ManagementManage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
Assist with business development activities and proposal preparationStay current with tax law changes and communicate updates to team and clientsContribute to process improvements and efficiency initiativesEducation & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldMinimum 4-6 years of public accounting experience with focus on tax servicesCPA license required (or ability to obtain within 12 months)Technical Skills
Proficiency in tax preparation software (Ultra Tax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or similar)Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Office SuiteExperience with tax research databasesStrong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulationsProfessional Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesDetail-oriented with high degree of accuracyAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesLeadership experience and mentoring capabilitiesPreferred Qualifications
