What You Will Do
The Sigma Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a hub of manufacturing science and metallurgical research, supporting a diverse customer base both internally and externally. The division's work spans the full range of materials on the periodic table, from hydrogen to uranium.
The Welding & Joining (W&J) team within Sigma is at the forefront of advanced joining techniques, encompassing electron beam welding, laser welding, laser marking, laser cutting and ablation, manual and semi-automatic arc welding, brazing, and more. The team collaborates closely with other LANL experts to investigate critical factors like residual stresses, material composition, and microstructure development.
As part of the W&J team, you will have the opportunity to conduct hands-on experimental research across this diverse array of manufacturing methods. This work will enable you to leverage and expand your knowledge while working with cutting-edge technology in these processing areas. You will play a key role in solving complex manufacturing challenges and driving innovation in welding and joining processes.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements :
Education / Experience : Requires an Associate's degree and 7 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
