American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Night Shift Neuro ICU assignment in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and strong neuro critical care skills.

Responsibilities
\n
Work in an 18-bed Neuro ICU within an acute care hospital settingPatient population includes ventricular drains, stroke patients (with or without tPA), and craniectomy casesNurse to patient ratio is 1 : 2Care involves ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, titration of various IV drips, and acute stroke managementRNs use ventilators, Cpap, Bipap, and high flow equipmentPhillips monitors are used for telemetry and nurses interpret their own stripsElectronic charting is performed using Epic, and experience is requiredWork schedule is three 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) per week, including rotating weekends and holidaysTravelers are required to float first and may be assigned to intermediate and general care unitsResponsibilities include providing specialized nursing care to critically ill neuro patients and managing complex medical equipmentRNs may assist with troubleshooting RT equipment and are responsible for reading and interpreting their own cardiac stripsCharge nurse or house supervisor is present on each shift, with support from patient care techsUnit-specific orientation consists of 20 hours, split between one 8-hour and one 12-hour shiftTravelers float first and may be assigned to other units with adjusted ratiosCOVID vaccination is not required for this assignmentLocal rates may apply for candidates living within 50 miles of the facility\n \n

Active IL RN license is required at the time of considerationMinimum of 1 year recent Neuro ICU experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA are mandatoryNIH Stroke Scale certification and experience with ventriculostomies, ventilators, and acute stroke management are requiredAbility to titrate multiple types of drips as ordered by a physicianExperience with Epic EMR is required\n
