Sr. Director of Loss Prevention & Business Continuity
As part of ProTrans' Risk Management Organization, the Sr. Director of Loss Prevention & Business Continuity will be responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of enterprise-wide strategies to reduce risk, minimize loss, and protect company assets across all locations. This position provides strategic direction and operational leadership, in collaboration with other departments such as Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Customer Support, and Finance. The role requires a strong combination of leadership, crisis management experience, and cross-functional partnerships, supporting and leading the development of programs designed to ensure ProTrans is prepared to operate safely through dynamic environments and events. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, risk-based approach, combining operational excellence with strong leadership and collaboration across business functions. This role reports to the Chief Risk Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and manage direct and dotted-line staff across all geographic locations.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert for all physical security, loss prevention, and crisis management-related issues.
- Serve as the senior advisor on protection of critical assets, supply chain, and emerging threats
Security Operations
Develop and implement standardized physical security protocols, policies, and procedures across all sites and regions.Conduct regular threat and vulnerability assessments to ensure controls are appropriately aligned with risk posture.Oversee loss prevention staffing, contract security partners, technology deployments, emergency response, and business continuity plans.Support the regional implementation of security technology and platforms compatible with organization and program strategies.Brief senior management on status of security issues and engage with security leadership on information sharing and best practices in risk mitigation.Lead the management of all third-party security contracts at all applicable sites.Keep the organization's in-house case management system up to date with incidents and investigations while leveraging it to proactively monitor and react to potential threats.Develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, and training.Strategic Planning
Collaborate with executive leadership to align loss prevention and business continuity programs with organizational goals and risk management strategies.Maintain close relationships with law enforcement, intelligence, and private sector counterparts in all regions, including international.Create and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for continuous improvement.Travel Safety
Lead and ensure that ProTrans has an effective travel safety and executive protection program.Develop customized event and travel security plans, and oversee security operations for VIPs, special guests, customers, and company executives when needed.Crisis Management and Business Continuity
Plan and coordinate efforts to ensure ProTrans can continue critical functions and recover from disruptions by developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive business continuity plans. Identify threats, analyze impacts, coordinate recovery efforts, and lead crisis management to maintain operations, protect reputation, and mitigate financial risks.Understand critical business functions, identifying vulnerabilities, creating contingency plans, and testing preparedness to maintain resilience against various threats.Lead and facilitate crisis management team to ensure preparedness and alignment.Align efforts with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Compliance & Investigations
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international security regulations and industry standards.Lead or support investigations involving loss prevention incidents and other physical security concerns.Support claims and insurance programMaintain incident management systems and develop after-action reports for continuous learning.Education and Experience
BS / BA Degree.8-10 years of progressive, international leadership and oversight within risk management.Strong communication and organizational skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Supervisory Responsibilities
This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
Competencies
A minimum of 8 years of experience in security, loss prevention, and crisis management, in a transportation or logistics environment.A minimum of 8 years of experience managing employees.Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously with a hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment.Must interact professionally with all associates, customers, and suppliers ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's safety programsMust be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Must have strong working knowledge of industry practices, and best known methods.Must be able to work well-independently as well as be a contributing member to various cross-functional teamsPossess strong time management and organizational skillsAbility to accomplish work and prioritize workload with frequent interruptionsAbility to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization and external contactsDriven to continue development of skills and knowledgePossess the ability to analyze and present data effectivelyTravel
