Work Arrangement : Onsite. This role is categorized as onsite. The successful candidate is expected to report to Romulus GPS on a full-time basis.

The Role : As a Facilities Engineer you will be responsible for serving as the single point of contact and building owner for facility needs, including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, and Roads & Grounds. You will be responsible for the development and administration of Building & Site Electrical maintenance contracts. You will work closely with all Business Partners to ensure a high level of delivery of facilities services to our tenants and their communities. You will also partner with GM communities and lead transformation construction projects to keep Romulus workspaces viable to manufacture the next generation products customers request.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain medium and low voltage electrical distribution equipment per GM Facility and Safety standards.
- Provide primary electrical substation operations support to the Electrical Utility company for the plant. Lead communications regarding internal and external utility disruptions.
- Manage power distribution drawings and support documentation, including substation one-line drawings, Arc Flash calculations, and short circuit studies.
- Manage required PMs, repairs and testing of back-up generators and automatic transfer switches, repairs and testing of computer room UPS systems, and 4160 Volt chillers.
- Support the Management of Electrical Safe Work Practice (ESWP) electrician glove program, 40 Cal. Suit inventory, and 8 Cal. daily wear electrician uniform service for the site.
- Support the role of Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP) Site Champion for PS4 safety module and salaried Subject Matter Expert for ESWP.
- Manage repairs and upgrades for Plant Security systems, including surveillance cameras, badge entry, and plant fire alarm system.
- Provide controls engineering support for Facilities systems (e.g., plant ventilation systems, tank farms, overhead lighting, substation monitoring, chilled water system).
- Support and share responsibilities of fire system in plant and underground repairs and maintenance activities with the team.
- Provide input in early stages of manufacturing projects to ensure adequate utility supply quality and capacity.
- Update and revise Asset database (ACAP) system as it relates to Facilities Electrical Systems.
- Use procurement systems (SAP, PDPM, NPP) to schedule and manage projects with contracts or internal resources.
- Develop scope documents and write purchase requests for all contracts required for the stated work.
- Work with the plant environmental department to ensure all contracts meet environmental compliance for implementation and disposal requirements (e.g., generator maintenance, contractor chemical approval and usage, waste disposal, corrective actions for spill response).
- Interface with UAW and comply with local and national labor agreements.
- Interface with GM Audit Services and Legal Staff, as required.
Your Skills & Abilities
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent training / experience
4 years of facility engineering, project management, or construction project experienceAbility to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc. as neededExperience with industrial electrical power distribution systems rated 13,800 V and below, including substations, motor control centers, busway, power panels, control panels and drivesAbility to read electrical distribution one-line diagrams and switching documentsExperience in project planning, engineering, and executionAbility to travel domestically 5% of the time or more based on business needsWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
