Butler Extended Day ProgramDo you enjoy working with school age children? Looking for a fun part -time job in a friendly environment?The Butler Extended Day Program is hiring now for an Assistant Group Leader.
We are a dynamic and engaging before after school program for school age children with working parents. Our program strives to provide a fun, recreational, choice-based program where children enjoy spending time with friends and caring adults in a school setting. Assistants will work with a Group Leader and be assigned to a grade.
We are seeking applicants who are energetic and enthusiastic and like to find creative ways of engaging children in active learning activities. Previous experience working with children ages 5-10 is preferred. This experience can be in another out of school time program or camp. However, we will train if no previous experience. It is an added benefit if you have skills and could teach a lesson or class in one or more of the following areas : music, STEM, arts and crafts, sports, creative movement / dance, yoga, theater arts, creative writing .
Assistant positions are
- Mon- Fri 2pm- 5 : 30pm or 6pm.
- All staff will be required to use our attendance app on either a smart phone or tablet so must be comfortable with technology. There will be paid, mandatory training before starting work.
- Responsibilities include :
- Assisting in the daily planning and execution of program activities, including set up procedures and end of day procedures.
- Assisting the group leader in observing children and preparing yearly progress reports.
- Taking sole responsibility for groups of children, as required.
- Using an attendance app to check children in and out of the program.
- Assisting in the care of the classroom and other program space as required, including but not limited to cleaning and maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Knowing and adhering to all BEDP policies and procedures that are relevant to the EEC guidelines for supervision and care of children (e.g maintain supervision ratio' s of 13 to 1, policy for dismissal / release of children, health care policy, behavior management policy, emergency procedures).
- Attending all staff meetings as scheduled by the administrator. Attending parent meetings, if required by administrator. Attending training sessions, staff development and other BEDP functions as required by the BEDP administrator.
- Meeting with parents of program children, or administrator to discuss a child's progress or some matter of concern to the parents.
- Protecting the property, equipment and supplies of BEDP and the Butler School.
- Training / Job Requirements :
- CPR and First Aid training ( needs to be completed within 1 month of employment). EEC Strong Start Coursework ( Needs to be completed within 2 months of employment) . Professional Qualifications Registry.

In order to be considered, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age and willing to submit to a background check as required by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
