Position Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with prescription orders, over-the-counter products, and medication inquiries. Provide information on proper medication usage, side effects, and other general healthcare-related concerns under the direction of a pharmacist.
- Assist in the preparation of prescription orders, ensuring accuracy, proper labeling, and correct dosage. Prepare medications as instructed by the pharmacist.
- Monitor stock levels, reorder medications, and manage the storage of pharmaceuticals to maintain proper inventory control and prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Accurately enter patient and prescription information into the pharmacy's computer system. Maintain detailed records of medications dispensed and interactions with patients.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards, including confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance), proper handling of medications, and safety protocols.
- Assist in organizing medications and ensuring that expired products are removed and safely disposed of according to company policy.
- Answer phone calls, handle customer inquiries, and assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry as needed.
- Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy and optimal patient care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, addressing their needs and concerns in a friendly, professional manner.Attention to Detail : Ensure accuracy when handling medications, prescription orders, and inventory.Basic understanding of medication types, dosages, and side effects to assist customers and staff.Resolve customer issues, prescription discrepancies, and other challenges effectively.Efficiently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.Mathematical Skills : Perform basic math for dosage calculations, measurements, and conversions.Understand pharmacy laws, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA).Adjust to changes in workflow, new technologies, and customer needs in a dynamic environment.Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards.Position Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent : Associate’s degree or pharmacy technician certification is a preferred
