Overview :
mpcus is seeking a hands-on QA Team Lead to join our Quality Center of Excellence (QCoE). This position plays a critical role in executing Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities across federal financial systems. We are looking for someone who combines test leadership with deep execution skills - especially in requirement review, test case creation, and defect discovery.
This is not a managerial overhead role. You will be embedded in the testing process, writing and executing test cases, identifying system gaps, leading UAT, and driving defect resolution. We value testers who can challenge assumptions, communicate clearly, and find what others miss.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and execute test planning, design, and hands-on validation across multiple projects in parallel.
- Design detailed manual test cases tailored to both system requirements and real-world business use cases.
- Review business and system requirements independently and proactively identify inconsistencies or gaps.
- Perform requirements-based, workflow-based, and data-driven testing across web, data, and service layers.
- Conduct API testing using Postman and SOAPUI to validate REST and SOAP services.
- Validate ETL jobs, data transformations, and reporting accuracy using SQL-based queries.
- Lead and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including script development, business stakeholder engagement, and defect tracking.
- Own and drive the defect lifecycle - from discovery through resolution - with a strong emphasis on quality and impact.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, DBAs, and business users, to ensure coverage and traceability.
- Use tools such as JIRA, ALM, ServiceNow, and SQL editors for end-to-end test management and reporting.
Required Skills and Experience :
10+ years of experience in software testing and QA, with a focus on manual test design, data validation, and UAT supportStrong ability to write clear, detailed test cases suitable for external users and business stakeholdersExceptional written and verbal communication skills - must be able to document, present, and defend test findings clearlyDemonstrated ability to lead UAT efforts with business stakeholders and end usersHands-on experience with :API testing using Postman and SOAPUI
ETL / data validation and SQL-based test verificationDeep understanding of IV&V practices - particularly requirement traceability, challenge-based testing, and solution validationExperience in defect triage and resolution management across Agile or hybrid environmentsFamiliarity with data-centric systems, integrations, and end-to-end testing beyond the UIProven ability to operate independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, multi-project setting
