Title : Director of TRIO Student Success Program
Unit : Non-Unit Professional ( NUP ) (Grant Funded Position)

General Summary : Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director of the TRIO Student Success Program (SSP) manages programmatic and administrative duties, services, and programs related to the federally funded TRIO Student Success Program including the effective use of federal funds granted to the college to provide services to 200 TRIO Program students from low income and first generation, to college backgrounds and individuals with disabilities, with the goals of increasing retention, college graduation and transfer to four-year institutions.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Directs the program management of services provided to TRIO program participants, including academic tutoring; personal advising; financial aid advising and financial and economic literacy training; provides exposure to cultural activities, and oversees the career and transfer advising process for TRIO SSP participants.
- Supervises TRIO Student Success Program Staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Middlesex Community College's policies, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance.
- Completes and submits the Annual Performance Report (APR) in accordance with instructions from the US Department of Education.
- Leads recruitment activities and supervises the selection / eligibility / approval process for program enrollment.
- Administers the program budget and authorizes expenditure of federal TRIO funds, monitors funds and tracks expenditures in accordance with established college policies and procedures and federal legislation and regulations.
- Responsible for interim and annual reporting of financial and student data; maintains student records, including academic, financial, and personal data.
- Maintains open lines of communication between the college community, TRIO students, community agencies, and other TRIO collegiate and high school programs.
- Develops internal and / or external collaborative partnerships and referral strategies necessary to address common barriers faced by TRIO program participants.
- Promotes and participates in college events, college committees, and other activities including student engagement activities and events, exchange programs, and community service projects to recruit and represent the interest of the low income, first generation and disabled student population with the goals of recruiting program participants and improving the institutional climate for TRIO eligible students.
- Promotes and participates in student advocacy processes; supports students in need of services through outreach to community agencies and college services.
- Leads TRIO SSP staff development and planning with an emphasis on continuous program improvement, professional development, and individual and team growth.
- Plans special events with staff for student outreach, college events, and student celebrations, including commencement recognition events.
- Provides direct service to program participants in the areas of academic, career, financial aid, and personal advising; coaching; oversees and facilitates trainings and workshops for groups and individuals in person and remotely using appropriate platforms (Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom, etc.)
Other Duties and Responsibilities :
Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.Maintains current knowledge of trends and practices in the eld through peer association, attendance at seminars, study, and review of literature.Stays current with technology needs for the program including remote learning tools.Performs other related duties as requiredRequirements :
Master's degree and five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Extensive knowledge of student services and program development.Experience with staff development and supervision of employees.Leadership, financial management, supervisory, and team building skills.Experience with federal and local grant processes.Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.Understanding of, and commitment to the College's policies, procedures goals and mission.Working knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment including the use of computers, databases, and budget management systems.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to advocate for students with college staff and faculty members.Knowledge of community outreach services and ability to assist students with contacting agencies for required services.Bi-lingual skills a plusAdditional Information :
This position is supported through federal grant funding. While the college is fully committed to the success of this program, continued employment in this role is contingent upon ongoing grant funding. Should federal funding change in the future, the position may be impacted.

Hours : 37.5 per week, schedule to be determined upon hire. This position will be eligible for a maximum of one days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy .
