Description
The Clinic Assistant supports daily operation of the Lazarus Free Medical Clinic as directed by the Clinic Manager in the operation of the clinic. The Clinic Assistant handles a wide range of administrative and operational support related tasks. The Clinic Assistant serves as backup to operate the clinic in the event the Clinic Manager is unable to. The Assistant must have the ability to interact with patients and staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Support requested by the Clinic Manager may include : assistance recruiting and retaining volunteers; maintaining patient files; scheduling appointments; coordinating DOH 110 volunteer certification.
Essential Duties and responsibilities : Other duties as assigned
- Assist Clinic Manager with the recruitment and retention of medical and non-medical volunteers.
- Responsible for filing documents and ensuring that these are current and professionally managed.
- Must have good telephone skills with hospitable demeanor, greets public professionally, screens calls, schedules appointments using electronic medical record system. .
- Must have excellent proofreading and writing skills.
- Interpret for patients and providers.
- Complete intake and discharge of patients.
- Attends assignments and long-term projects offered by management.
- Manages e-mail and internet correspondence.
- Be knowledgeable of sovereign immunity statutes and regulations. Comply with all DOH Volunteer Healthcare Professional Program (VHCPP) requirements including completion of essential forms and contracts for volunteers.
- Maintain confidentiality, security and safeguarding of all clinic files and assets. Maintain security of the clinic in coordination with the Clinic Manager.
- Master electronic medical record (EMR), telehealth and other required databases and systems.
- Must understand priority of inquiry, so attention to detail is important
Other Duties & Responsibilities :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Must have knowledge and understanding of generalized arithmetic.Ability to produce reports utilizing excel spreadsheets and mathematical equations as required.Must have a good command of spoken and written English language. Spanish language requiredAbility to read and interpret basic correspondence.Must multi-task and manage time wellRequirements
High school diploma or equivalent.Requires at least 1 years of experience in a similar position.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical record systems, as well as, experienced in researching and compiling data from the internet.Must be proficient in communication media technology.Must be flexible with regard to work hours and responsibilities.Experience with telehealth platform(s) a plus.
