Position Overview
Cadence LLC is seeking an accomplished Wildland Fire Mitigation Manager to join our growing team and mission. This is a full-time remote position responsible for the development and implementation of the corporate Wildland Fire Mitigation Program with occasional travel to oversee and support projects and contracts in the field.
The Wildland Fire Mitigation Manager plays a dual role supporting projects and contracts as a program / project manager or planner, as well as driving strategic growth for Cadence LLC in the areas of wildland fire management, hazard mitigation, landscape-scale forest restoration planning, defensible space, and wildfire risk mitigation planning. This position blends technical field expertise with entrepreneurial thinking to expand services, build partnerships, and position the company as a leader in fire mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
Forestry and Fire Mitigation Field Operations
- Develop wildland fire mitigation and preparedness plans to include Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs), wildland fire mitigation plans, as well as project management and support for landscape-scale forest restoration, defensible space creation, and prescribed fire planning.
- Conduct site assessments and fire behavior modeling to prioritize treatment areas.
- Participate in research and the development of best practices for forestry and fire mitigation activities.
- Supervise field crews and contractors during mitigation projects.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and fire codes.
Interagency & Community Collaboration
Coordinate with federal, state, tribal, and local agencies to align mitigation efforts.Establish partnership agreements with agencies and NGOs that provide funding for Cadence's wildfire mitigation program.Lead community outreach and education campaigns to promote fire-safe practices.Represent the company at public meetings, workshops, and industry events.Business Development & Strategic Growth
Develop and maintain a Cadence LLC Wildfire Mitigation Program Strategic Plan that aligns with the Cadence LLC Business PlanIdentify new markets, service areas, and client segments to expand business reach.Build and maintain relationships with landowners, HOAs, government agencies, and private clients.Support proposal development, bid submissions, and grant applications.Track industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategic planning.Contribute to branding and marketing to raise visibility.Develop scalable mitigation packages and service models for different client types.Represent the company at wildland fire conferences, workshops, meetings, and training.
Operational & Financial Support
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for mitigation projects.Monitor project performance and recommend process improvements.Support hiring, training, and development of field staff.Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting for clients and funders.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Fire Science, Emergency Management, Natural Resources, or related field.5 years of experience in wildfire mitigation, fire management, or related roles.Knowledge of or experience regarding home hazard and urban fire conflagration mitigation.Strong understanding of fire ecology, fuels management, and GIS mapping.Experience in business development, client relations, or strategic planning preferred.Excellent communication and leadership skills.Experience writing grant proposals and grant administration, including experience managing, tracking, and leveraging multiple budgets.Wildland fire response or prescribed fire certifications through NWCG.Preferred Attributes
Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growing a mission-driven business.Experience working in fire-prone regions or wildland-urban interface zones.Familiarity with grant writing and federal funding mechanisms.Ability to lead both field operations and client-facing initiativesExperience disseminating scientific and complex project information to the public.Work Environment
This is a full-time, remote job that has some travel to project and contract locations. Collaboration and communications with corporate officers, government officials, diverse stakeholders, and the public is expected for strategic growth and successful implementation of projects.
