Job Summary and Qualifications
The role of the Facility Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives that support consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital. The CMO provides senior-level leadership to infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing, ensuring collaboration among stakeholders. The CMO analyzes quality performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and consults on issues involving physicians. Additionally, the CMO contributes to hospital strategy and service line development to ensure quality management and an optimal patient experience.
What you will do in this role :
Lead clinical performance expectations to support consistent clinical standards and superior outcomes.Collaborate with hospital leadership, medical staff, and boards to improve medical staff effectiveness.Partner with medical staff and management, fostering teamwork and shared goals. Represent medical staff viewpoints to management and vice versa, establishing mutually beneficial relationships.Provide clinical support and consultation on cost-effective resource management, sharing reports and recommendations to reduce costs while maintaining clinical effectiveness.Create a data-driven environment for quality and cost improvement, developing systems to review resource utilization and measure care outcomes.Serve as a liaison between physicians and clinical services, facilitating communication and collaboration.Establish and maintain programs to orient and develop medical leadership and provide oversight for medical education programs.Lead educational sessions and ongoing in-service programs regarding clinical resource management, standards, utilization, and quality improvement.Assemble regional physician advisory panels and serve as a liaison to provide feedback to management and physicians.Act as a spokesperson for clinical initiatives, explaining and gaining support for hospital and corporate programs.Collaborate daily with other CMOs at HCA facilities.Educate physicians on clinical technologies and collaborate on formulary and supply chain opportunities.Develop and monitor policies for disruptive and impaired physicians, including intervention programs.Provide recommendations on hospital policies related to medical staff affairs.Serve as a consultant on physician credentialing, utilization, and quality profiling, and participate in peer review committees as needed.Evaluate new medical technologies and programs for relevance and appropriateness for HCA hospitals.Click here to view the full description.
