The Quality Engineer leads quality initiatives across assigned divisions and departments, managing overall quality within a matrixed organization and supplier network. This role ensures that process controls are effectively implemented and maintained throughout the entire manufacturing process. The engineer is involved early in product development, offering input on drawings and designs, and partnering with internal teams and suppliers during initial builds to establish high-quality outcomes from the start. Additionally, the role handles customer issues and escalations by driving supplier corrective actions and reporting progress to business stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads quality problem resolutions and incident management, drive root cause, preventative and corrective actions. Identifies and drives broad based systemic resolutions at the process level.
- Drive SPC (statistical process control) compliance and improvement projects to reduce out of control conditions.
- Prepare and present executive summaries on customer and factory escalations. Prepare and present Quality Reviews to manager and other stakeholders.
- Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and / or production equipment.
- Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies. Track’s progress of qualification status, review’s test results, determines disposition of non-compliant products, reviews and releases qualification packs.
- Utilizes drawings, specifications, industry standards, and sketches, adapting inspection measuring devices and procedures when necessary. Read and interpret technical drawings and specification requirements.
- Organize data and input into JMP statistical analysis package to complete analysis.
- Analyzes internal / external failures (RMA), suggest corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
- Work with Quality Engineering and Product Development to interpret the results of analysis and to draw conclusions and future recommendations.
- Work with internal and external groups to ensure that proper definition of quality expectations and that appropriate assurance techniques are used for the product.
- Drive follow-up actions on special projects as needed from conclusions of analysis.
- Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes.
COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of mechanical quality concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operationsProject management experience and an understanding of problem-solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical analytical toolsStrong discipline and attention to detail for accuracy of analysis.Basic knowledge of project management principlesProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPointPossess effective verbal & written skillsEducation and / or Experience : BS in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing systems engineering or similar).
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 30 pounds.
