Summary
Responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
Major Job Functions

- Participates in assessment of patient
- Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
- Follows patients plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
- Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Facilitates a safe environment
- Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
- Maintains required competencies
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
- Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
- Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
- Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
- Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Formal Training :
High school graduate or equivalent requiredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description :
6 South is a 36-bed unit with a focus on respiratory diseases.Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 5-6Our patients include high acuity adult and geriatric patients.Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists.New Graduate Nurses are accepted!Work Experience :
