Forklift Driver – Temp-to-Hire | AM & PM Shifts | $21.50 / hr + OT | Irwindale, CA | 2+ Yrs Exp & Raymond Stand-Up Required (Cold Storage Preferred)

Position Summary :

The Material Handler is responsible for unloading all products that come in and reporting of the quality. This position is exposed to multiple refrigerated areas within production and operates a forklift or motorized lifting devices to move raw product, finished product, materials, and supplies as directed inside and outside of production.

Key Responsibilities :

• Ensure compliance with and maintain all GMP / PPE / Safety, HACCP & Sanitation guidelines and processes.
• Unload raw product, affixing assigned lot numbers to each bin or box that comes in. Record all items received in appropriate receiving form and upon completion, compare with bill of lading for accuracy. Record any discrepancies.
• Weigh all bins of lettuce from each load, recording weight on lettuce receiving form.
• Minimize downtime by providing production with materials needed for each day. Responsible for communicating with the gatekeeper and coordinator regarding inventory issues and ensuring efficient changeovers.
• Maintain proper rotation (FIFO).
• Be cross-trained and able to perform line feeding, rotating, and picking responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Move products and / or pallets from one location to another using a forklift or pallet jack.
• Maintenance of the trash dock. Clean / sanitize the compactor and surrounding dock area. Empty trash compactors when full.
• Monitor trash dumpsters to ensure items / products are being disposed of properly. Bail plastic and cardboard materials to load onto the trailer.
• Monitor inventory of iGPS and wooden pallets and report to the Warehouse Coordinator / Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean working environment, this includes but is not limited to : Warehouse areas, Coolers, Docks and Trailers
• Ensures all areas remain cleaned and tools are returned to rightful locations
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Rotate product by date in the storage cooler while staying in rotation and picking the correct product based on age.
• Pick orders and stage by route. Responsible for loading the product onto the correct truck in the correct sequence to ensure the customer receives their product.
• Locate products in the JDE / DSI system into the designated location using a scanner.

Physical Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, this position entails use of ladders and catwalks to reach production equipment, regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to extreme cold for extended periods of time. The associate frequently works in high, precarious places. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
