OVERVIEW
The Refinery Supervisor oversees and is responsible for all operational activities relating to the processing of sugar on their assigned shift including planning, organizing, and directing shift process operations to assure that plant reliability, safety, and environmental requirements are met. The Refinery Supervisor must be able to exercise considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply operational guidelines to specific situations as needed. In the absence of regular site management, assumes responsibility for immediate site operations, safety, environmental compliance, and security of the plant. This position has dual responsibilities due to the nature of our business (crop / non-crop). During non-crop, the Supervisor will be in charge of strictly maintenance, repairs and replacement of new equipment primarily in the process area.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with other Plant Supervisors regarding day to day operating conditions
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate operations union employees and contractors
- Providing guidance to workers in adjusting, repairing, and maintaining machines and equipment which fail to meet standards
- Assists the Mill Process Manager in reviewing procedures and investigating operating incidents and abnormalities
- Must be able to prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, maintain records and compose correspondence as required
- Must be able to evaluate and verify employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
- Capable of identifying employee development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained
- Comply with and enforce Florida Crystals Corporation’s Environmental Health and Safety Policy (EHS), must understand and adhere to all Florida Crystals Corporation’s policies and procedures
- Investigates accidents and injuries and prepare reports accordingly
- Must be able to communicate to immediate Supervisor and / or Managers as required in order to optimize resources for purposes of improving production
- Shift Process Supervisors are responsible for providing coverage for other shifts when another Shift Process Supervisor is on vacation, out sick or away from work for any reason.
WORK EXPERIENCES AND REQUIREMENTS
Must have at least 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environmentSugar Mill or Food Production experience preferredStrong safety background related to industrial facilities and OSHA General Industry RegulationsUnderstanding Knowledge of material handling systems, piping, valves, pressure vessels, pumps, cooling towers, pressure vessels, vacuum pans, evaporators, heat exchangers, building & grounds, and air compressors beneficial.Experience working and managing employee’s in a union environment is preferredMust be able to work a rotating shift in a 24 / 7 operationMust be able to work weekends and holidays as neededBilingual - English / Spanish desirableEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
