The Finance Director / Head of Finance is responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy, planning, reporting, and overall financial health. This role is both strategic and hands-on, supporting a small but growing organization. The Finance Director will oversee the Finance Specialist and ensure accurate accounting operations while driving long-term financial planning, compliance, budgeting, and performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Leadership & Strategy :
- Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy to support company goals.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership regarding financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead annual budgeting processes and multi-year financial planning.
- Create financial models to support decision-making for growth, investments, and operational improvements.
Financial Reporting & Analysis :
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Monitor KPIs, cash flow, and financial trends.Deliver financial performance updates and forecasts to the executive team.Ensure timely and accurate reporting for parent company.Accounting Oversight :
Supervise and mentor the Finance Specialist responsible for AP, AR, payroll processing, expense reporting, and bank reconciliations.Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies.Ensure timely and accurate journal entries, reconciliations, and financial documentation.Compliance & Risk Management :
Ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local financial regulations.Manage external audits, tax filings (in coordination with external accountants as needed), and compliance reviews.Assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.Operational & Administrative Responsibilities :
Manage banking relationships, credit lines, and cash management activities.Support contract review, pricing analysis, and vendor financial evaluation.Lead implementation or optimization of financial systems, tools, and processes.Assist with insurance renewals, benefit cost analysis, and other administrative financial responsibilities as needed for a smaller organization.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or CPA preferred.7–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in a small-to-mid-sized business environment.Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.Experience overseeing or mentoring accounting staff.Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Paylocity) and advanced Excel skills.Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a team environment.Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Looking for a candidate to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Imerza is an equal opportunity employer.
