Master's degree with a major in Speech-language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or other similarly titled area consistent and acceptable to the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Position Objective
The Speech-language Pathologist (SLP) organizes and provides speech, language, and swallowing intervention to facilitate rehabilitation and directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and / or enhance such performance. The SLP facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for communication, cognitive-linguistic functions, and swallowing to diminish or remediate disorders or deficit. S / he directs activities to promote and maintain health within the Code of Ethics of the Profession.
Screens, examines, and evaluates patients including history, review of systems, and application of appropriate tests and measures; interprets examination finding in conjunction with analysis of medical record in order to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, provide a prognosis and time required to meet it, identify precautions / contraindications, and design and execute plan of care; develops appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers; designs treatment programs and implements the speech-language pathology treatment plan; and completes all related documentation and recordkeeping regarding these services.
