Manager Position
Job Requirements : The individual in this position is responsible for ensuring that shelter services provided to runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth are delivered in accordance with state licensing regulations and program standards established by the agency as well as in accordance with the principles of trauma-informed care and positive youth development frameworks. This is a managerial position that requires supervision of a team, administrative tasks, as well as direct client services.
Duties : This is a Manager Level role which provides coaching and direct supervision of shelter staff, including hiring, facilitation of team meetings, and completion of employee performance evaluations. Coordinates team building activities and training opportunities for Youth Shelter Advocates and interns. Directs and coordinates provision of shelter and supports outpatient services to clients and ensures that clients receive quality services in a timely and professional manner. Provides direct services to clients. Coordinates the collection of information necessary to make accurate and timely reports to funding and / or regulatory agencies and completes / submits these reports in a timely manner. Ensures that shelter staff, student interns, and volunteers receive adequate training prior to assuming the duties / responsibilities associated with their position. Develops and implements policies and procedures in consultation with the Program Director. Ensures program compliance with client documentation / reporting standards and with agency policy / procedures. Determines the monthly schedule for counselors working in the shelter and covers shifts in the shelter as necessary. Maintains an orderly shelter facility and checks frequently on food, supplies and youth rooms. Willingness to learn the intricacies and details of Chapter 57 and ensure compliance standards are met and rules are followed, including regular checking of paperwork and logs. This includes completing Serious Incident Reports for the Dept of Children and Families (DCF). CPR / First Aid / AED / Fire Safety and Medication Administration Training within the first two weeks of role. It is the responsibility of the Manager to excel in these areas. Perform other responsibilities and related duties as assigned.
Other Experience and Qualifications : Education / Experience Qualifications : A bachelors degree in social work, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university and at least two (2) years of full-time experience working in youth services setting. Knowledge of youth homeless services, trauma informed care, and positive youth development practices preferred. Bilingual preferred. Required Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience managing and supervising staff members. Highly organized and attention to detail. Willingness to do the on call portion of the role, which includes 50% time being able to answer calls from Youth Advocates or come in, in response to an urgent situation.
