Insurance Authorization Specialist

Brentwood, TN | 100% On-Site

up to $21.00 / hour | Monday-Friday, Full-Time (40 hours)

Choose your shift : 7 : 00 - 3 : 30 or 8 : 00 - 4 : 30

Key Responsibilities - Insurance Authorization Specialist :

  • Coordinate and process insurance authorizations for behavioral health services, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
  • Communicate with insurance payers and providers to verify benefits, resolve authorization issues, and ensure timely approvals for patient care.
  • Review and monitor claims, authorizations, and payment statuses to support accurate and timely reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with the revenue cycle and accounts receivable teams to address authorization-related denials and delays.
  • Analyze data using Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs) to identify trends in payer responses and authorization turnaround times.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications - Insurance Authorization Specialist :

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle operations, with a strong preference for behavioral health experience.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance authorization processes, including commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare payers.
  • Proficient in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and comfortable working with EMR and billing systems.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing time-sensitive tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across clinical and administrative teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing payer requirements.
