Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Manager for a top High-Value Industrial Manufacturing client.
This high-impact leadership role, based in Detroit, MI, leads engineering and reliability efforts, focusing on electrical maintenance strategy, equipment design, modification, and optimization. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position drives long-term reliability improvements, manages capital projects, and offers a clear, direct path to promotion to the Maintenance & Reliability Superintendent role within 6–12 months.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze recurring equipment issues and develop and implement robust electrical and mechanical solutions to significantly reduce operational downtime.
- Lead capital and expense projects from initial scope development through final closeout and commissioning.
- Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance strategies for efficient, long-term equipment use and reliability across the plant.
- Design and modify critical plant equipment using specialized engineering software and best practices.
- Supervise contractors, ensuring strict compliance with all environmental, health, safety (EHS), and MSHA regulations.
- Support the implementation and optimization of Electrical and Mechanical Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to improve overall system reliability and performance metrics.
- Stay current on industry developments, technical innovations, and specialized maintenance techniques for heavy industrial environments.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering is required .Experience
Minimum of five (5) to fifteen (15) years of engineering experience in maintenance reliability and high-voltage systems is required.Strong background in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments (non-automotive focus).Experience with medium to high voltage systems (preferably up to 1200 volts) is highly desired.Certifications / Licenses
U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder is required (sponsorship is not available).Reliability certification and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience is preferred.Familiarity with mining laws, ventilation systems, and shaft maintenance is a plus.Skills
Strong electrical background is mandatory.Advanced knowledge of electronics, PLCs, mechanical, and automation systems is required.Comfortable working underground and leading a team.Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied outdoor conditions.Willing and able to work a minimum of 55 hours per week, including every other Saturday.Benefits
