Departmental Technician

This position functions as paraprofessional technician to support the Permanency Planning and Regional Placement Unit staff. Position will exercise programmatic responsibility to assure efficient and effective program operation as a whole and assists staff to deliver competent, quality services to accomplish permanency goals and objectives. Position is responsible to compile, review, track, and evaluate services related to child welfare policy and federal child welfare goals.

Education : Possession of a high school diploma or a GED Certificate.
Experience : One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service. OR One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service. OR One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service. OR Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service. OR Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service. OR Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.
Alternate Education and Experience : Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement. Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement. Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement. Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
The physical location of this position is 3040 W. Grand Blvd, Ste 5-100, Detroit, MI 48202. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including : a secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions; a high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload; suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities; work must be in performed in the State of Michigan.
