Materials Manager

Description
Responsible for supervising staff that manage the flow of supplies for the manufacturing process for assigned products. Manages the process for sourcing raw material, scheduling, production control and shipping finished goods to customers and provides training in E1 material functions and materials management.
Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinates and negotiates with vendors for price and procurement.
\n
Organizes and supervises the material flow for shipping and receiving of all materials.\n
Supervises the work of the plant buyers\n
Manages records of all stock and inventory.\n
Maintains the standard and quality of goods and materials through purchasing and inventory control.\n
Conducts market survey and analysis of material cost and prices and works with the Commodity Manager(s) to maintain favorable cost positions and mitigate risk.\n
Plans and prepares the budget for shipping and receiving and procuring materials. Develops procurement plans and assesses the transporting and carting of materials.\n
Prepares assessment reports on the availability, price, market survey, and supply of materials.\n
Oversees daily inventory activities to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory agency policies and procedures.\n
Schedules all work assignments to direct the processes of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and similar functions for the flow of materials in the plant.\n
Monitors scheduled assignments and reassigns tasks as necessary.\n
Develops and conducts inventory-specific training programs.\n
Supervises and directs the work of the material handlers.\n
Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate the flow of materials or products.\n
Leads and participates in the Continuous Improvement and Lead initiatives within the materials department.\n
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.\n \n

Supervises supervisory and / or non-supervisory employee(s). \nInterviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Working with Human Resources on employee issues.\n \n

Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.\n
Uses noncomplex machines and equipment (adding machines, calculators, copy / fax machines, etc.).\n \n
Education and Experience
\n
Bachelor's degree in business, operational management, or a related field (required).\n
Seven to ten years of relevant education or experience in purchasing, logistics, or a related field (required).\n
ERP system experience is required\n
JD Edwards experience is preferred\n \n
Computer Skills
\n
\n Advanced : Alphanumeric data entry, spreadsheet.\n
\n Basic : Word processing / typing.\n \n
Certificates and Licenses
APICS Certification is preferred\n
