Maintenance Supervisor
Overview
Plan, prioritize, and lead projects for the department under the direction of the Manager. Maintains shredding equipment and other facility assets to maintain production. Supervisory activities such as employee count, hours, project tracking, inventory, and suggests problem-solving ideas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Take direction and deploy daily activities administered by the Manager.
- Evaluate current and prospective workers, organize schedules, and assign work activity.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, shredders, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Leads daily inspections of any and all equipment including but not limited to conveyors, shredders, supply chain, and outlets.
- Directs regular intensive cleaning / up-keep of company assets.
- Regular preventative maintenance which may include housekeeping, monthly safety inspections, fire safety, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, fans, lights, plumbing, and storm drain cleaning.
- Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures, inventory, and other essential measurable assignments and information.
- Practice safe measures with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May operate a computer that controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
- Receives and deploys scrap shipment priorities.
- Coordinates with yard drivers to ensure efficient and correct practices.
- Follow standard operating procedures for correct scrap shipment practices i.e. weight, trailer inspections, scale inspections, and other procedures as needed.
- Regularly practice machine shop tooling skills such as but not limited to welding, plasma cutting, grinding, drilling, milling, and other power and pneumatic tools.
- Coordinates with key facility personnel to perform maintenance procedures that may impact their immediate area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education / Work Experience :
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferredTwo-year minimum experience, requiredBilingual English / Spanish is a plusRequired Skills / Abilities :
Ability to read and understand basic instructions and write simple correspondence.Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one or small group settings.Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).Experience using measuring tools (e.g., calipers, tape measure, levels).Flexible and adaptable to changes in daily tasks and schedule.Positive attitude and ability to cooperate with others.Open to new ideas and contributing to progress.Strong teamwork skills and ability to maintain professionalism.Able to work well under pressure, handle interruptions, and manage multiple tasks.Self-sufficient and able to produce accurate work with minimal supervision.Ability to think independently and find creative solutions.Awareness of internal and external suppliers, and able to maintain good vendor relations.Dependable in meeting deadlines and completing tasks with minimal errors.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment.Physical Requirements
Requires manual dexterity and hearing / visual acuity sufficient to effectively perform the duties inherent to the position, including operation of equipment of varying degrees of complexity.Frequent walking and standing, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and / or bending.Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise. The majority of duties are performed inside the warehouse. This is a physically demanding position.Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment, and supplies; up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.Must be able to work on high-altitude catwalks and roof of warehouse.Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.Equal Opportunity Employer :
