Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring a MO or compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certification, and at least 2 years of neuro critical care experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a Neuro ICU unit of a short-term acute care hospitalPrimary patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, CNS infections, neurotrauma, and post-thrombectomy / tPA carePatient ratio is typically 1 : 2Required to work every other weekendNight shifts, 3x12 hours (19 : 00-07 : 30)Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including within the hospital and affiliate hospitalsSpecialized procedures include vasoactive medications, central and arterial line management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, hypothermia / hyperthermia management, and spinal precautionsUses Epic EMR system with prior Epic experience requiredUses specialized equipment such as EVDs and bolts for ICP monitoringNo on-call requirementsMain responsibilities include management of complex neurological and critically ill patientsMust be able to manage advanced neuro interventions, including ICP and hemodynamic monitoringNight shift staff receive free parking; day / night rotation requires a monthly parking feeNavy blue scrubs are requiredPosition is at a Magnet-designated, academic teaching, Level I Trauma CenterPermanent former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a travelerStandard travelers can remain for up to 18 months, with a required 3-month break afterLimited to no more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract and no time off granted the first weekWill complete required orientation modules and stroke education during onboardingRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU or critical care experienceCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMust pass Relias EKG exam demonstrating dysrhythmia management skillsExperience with Epic EMR documentation requiredCompletion of 10 hours stroke education required (some credit via NIHSS / ACLS possible during orientation)Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from facility (no local candidates)First-time travelers will be consideredBenefits
