American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg unit position with 12-hour night shifts and strong Med / Surg experience required.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work on the Medical 3rd floor of a hospital, which is a Level III Trauma Center with 145 bedsUnit specializes in acute care for medically stable patients with a 40-bed capacityPatient population includes medical cases such as COPD, CHF, emphysema, CAD, DM, ETOH withdrawal, dementia, kidney failure, sepsis, UTI, GI bleeds, wounds, and occasional surgical casesStroke Certified Unit with both medical and some post-surgical patientsNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5-6Support includes 6-8 RNs, 4-6 CNAs, up to 2 shift supervisors, a Health Unit Clerk (day shift), and 24 / 7 hospitalist and RT presenceUses Meditech for EMR, Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Voalte for communication12-hour night shifts (1930-0700); 36 hours per weekRotational scheduling with 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks; weekends for night shift are Friday and SaturdayFloating required to Med / Surg combo (Surgical and Oncology), ED boarders, and Progressive Care Unit for medical overflowFirst-time travelers with strong experience will be consideredOne day of general orientation including Meditech training, plus 12-hour acute care unit orientation and cross-training to 2nd Surgical UnitMay have primary patient care for 1-2 patients in assignmentBedside shift report and hourly rounding are required; white boards used in all roomsMust work 1-2 holidays during the winter assignment; night shift observes Eve as holiday, day shift observes day of holidayClean scrubs required with no color restrictions and no restrictions on hair color, tattoos, or piercingsFree parking is available with shuttle service during winter monthsPotential for contract extension or full-time conversion\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in MT or Compact stateMinimum of 1 year of strong, broad Med / Surg experience requiredCurrent certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Skills in epidural / PCA / medication management, drain / ostomy management, chest tubes, wound care, general post-surgical recovery, and post-op orthoExperience using Meditech EMR preferred\n Benefits\n
