Responsibilities

  • Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.
  • Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.
  • Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintain a clean, organized store environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
  • Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service : promptly greet guests; respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank guests for shopping; circulate throughout the store.
  • Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases / returns using the POS system accurately and efficiently, including giving receipts and ensuring top-notch guest service.
  • Respond to guest questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Promote GameStop's guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies and guidelines.
  • Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document performance in Workday / HR service management system in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training are completed prior to shifts; understand all job responsibilities, policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Schedule store associates considering guidelines; supervise staffing for optimum guest service; ensure adherence to guest service standards.
  • Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify accuracy of payments.
  • Maintain clean, organized store areas; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; conduct safety checks and report concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
  • Perform store inventory counts and restock merchandise; maintain organized shelves and product placement.
  • Balance and reconcile daily transactions in the POS; complete closeout paperwork and manage cash and deposits per guidelines.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate issues to management.
  • Process defects / recalls and stock pulls; ensure proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain safety awareness; address hazards and report injuries per guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence.
  • Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
  • Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during every visit.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and as part of a team.
  • Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
  • Operate POS system; possess basic math and organizational skills.
  • Complete required paperwork properly and follow written or diagrammed instructions.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days / week).
  • Ability to manage pressure, problem-solve, be reliable, and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to stand and move for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs; basic physical requirements.
  • Working knowledge of military ranks and insignia where applicable for stores located on military bases.

    Compensation : $17.80 - $21.80
