Job description
  • About the job : The Controller oversees all financial and accounting operations for a growing construction and architecture firm, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role manages budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic financial planning to support company growth. + We're looking for someone who : - Holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred) - Has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or Controller role - Possesses experience in the construction, architecture, or engineering industry - Understands GAAP, AIA billing, job costing, and WIP reporting - Is proficient in accounting software and Excel (Sage 300, Deltek, or QuickBooks experience a plus) - Demonstrates strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills - Works independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail + What you'll do : - Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP / AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations - Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and ensure accurate project-level financial reporting - Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements - Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis - Ensure compliance with industry standards, including AIA billing, lien waivers, and contract terms - Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures - Collaborate with project managers and estimators for accurate job tracking - Coordinate audits, tax preparation, and communication with external CPAs - Implement and maintain accounting systems and financial tools - Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to leadership - Mentor and lead a small accounting team Employment Type : Full Time Salary : $90,000 - $130,000 Annual Bonus / Commission : No
