Responsible code enforcement work in the investigation and enforcement of certain City, County and State codes regarding nuisances, heath and sanitation, zoning and building requirements. Patrols the City in a marked vehicle to look for violations of violations of City Ordinances. Makes routine inspections of residential and commercial properties for possible violations of the City, County and State regulations regarding City occupational licenses, nuisances, lot mowing, portable signs, fences, parking, health and sanitation, minimum housing and general littering of the City, including City easements and right-of-ways. Responds to a variety of non-hazardous and non-criminal calls for service. Receives, records, processes, and conducts investigative work regarding complaints from citizens. Prepares, inputs, and maintains records and files supporting code cases. Coordinates with City Attorney and City Magistrate to attend legal proceedings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions. Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others. Ability to obtain information through interview and observation. Ability to learn department functions, practices, general orders, rules, regulations, City and County ordinances, and State laws as applicable to the functions of the job. Ability to use a personal computer. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Code enforcement experience is preferred. Law enforcement experience is desirable. Possession of a Florida Driver’s License. Certification by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement is preferred. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Entry $26.31 per hour. Open until filled. Backgrounds, drug screening and physical will be conducted.
