The Late Stage Counselor I will work directly with our borrowers who have a home loan through our organization and are past due on their payment. You will initiate outbound and receive inbound calls from our clients and provide them with financial education and counseling based on their loan status and available resolution options. The goal is to keep our borrowers in their home so we must utilize any loss mitigation and collection techniques we can to achieve this goal.

In This Role You Will

• Engage with borrowers who are past due on their mortgage payments, providing personalized support and guidance to help them get back on track
• Develop and implement customized payment plans to manage debt and prevent foreclosure
• Offer financial education and counseling to help borrowers create a sustainable budget and manage their debt effectively
• Identify and address the root causes of delinquency, such as financial hardship, job loss, or medical emergency, to provide targeted support
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex issues and ensure timely resolution, ensuring that borrowers receive the support they need to stay on track
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of borrower interactions and progress, providing valuable insights to inform future support and guidance
• Review borrowers for Home Retention Programs based on loan type, ensuring that they are matched with the most appropriate support and resources
• Stay up-to-date on regulatory requirements, including FDCPA, RESPA, and FCRA, to ensure compliance and provide borrowers with accurate and timely information
• Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining a high standard of quality during every interaction and working to meet the borrower's needs while providing education and counseling as necessary
• May perform other job duties as assigned
