Commercial / MF Project Detailer – Division 8 (DFH)
The Project Detailer plays a key role in the successful execution of commercial and multifamily projects by managing the detailing, documentation, and submission processes once a project is secured by the sales team. This position requires close collaboration with internal departments, clients, and vendors to ensure all specifications for doors, frames, and hardware are accurately detailed and meet quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in the doors, frames, and hardware industry. They will utilize their technical expertise to produce precise shop drawings, submittals, and schedules. This role demands accuracy, efficiency, and a proactive approach to communication and problem-solving.
The mission for this position is to ensure all awarded projects are accurately and efficiently detailed, allowing project managers to focus on project execution and the sales team to continue pursuing new opportunities.

Detail $15M–$20M in awarded projects annually
95% on-time delivery of all detailing work

Maintain or exceed estimated project margins
Core Responsibilities
Review project scope with estimators to confirm alignment with client expectations and budgets.
Analyze architectural drawings, plans, and specifications to interpret design intent and identify potential issues.
Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety, and accessibility standards (e.g., ADA).
Produce accurate submittals and shop drawings integrating door schedules and product data.
Design and coordinate keying schedules, ensuring security and functionality requirements are met.
Collaborate with access control and project management teams to integrate systems effectively.
Propose cost-effective solutions while maintaining performance and compliance.
Track vendor quotes and confirm alignment with budget and project pricing.
Support project managers through the transition from design to execution, providing technical guidance.
Review shop orders and submittals for accuracy and consistency prior to fabrication.
Draft RFIs to clarify design or specification issues and communicate with stakeholders.
Update and resubmit documentation as needed based on review feedback.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in detailing or related construction roles focused on Division 8 products.
Strong knowledge of materials, hardware, building codes, and industry standards (including ADA and fire ratings).
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certification such as AHC or CDC (Door and Hardware Institute).
Experience managing large-scale or complex commercial projects.
Familiarity with AVAware or similar detailing software.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range : $100,000–$115,000 with bonus potential.
